Dia de Muertos at the Port of Seattle

The Puget Sound region has a rich heritage, a diverse community connected to global cultures. The Port celebrates being part of a global community with cultural activities at Sea-Tac and at Pier 69. The festivities kicked off on November 1 with the cultural tradition of Día de los Muertos or “Day of the Dead” in partnership with the Mexican Consulate, Latinos Unidos, the Port’s Latino employee resource group, and the Merchants at Sea-Tac. Celebrations included an altar to honor and remember loved ones that have passed, candy skull face painting, food and beverage sampling and live music and dance performances by Banda Gozona and Grupo Cultural Oaxaqueño, as well as a sand-painting at Pier 69 created by the Mexican artist Fulgencio Lazo.
